Welcome to the newest collection of contemporary short stories from Viet Nam ! Published by Viet Nam News - The national English - language daily - these stories are being presented in honour of the newspaper' s 15 th anniversary on June 17, 2006. In this collection, contemporary Vietnamese authors offer a variety of intelligent and colourful perspectives of a fast changing Viet Nam. Here, ordinary peoples ' lives, struggles and successes are examined within the backdrop of the nation' s emergence from war. In these character' lives, and in the lives of all humanity, lies a never-ending fight between the good and the bad, the greedy and the generous. This collection comprises a mosaic, and each story brings to life a character deeply imbued with the traits of all people.
