| Description: |
Tran Quoc Pagoda on Thanh Nien Road, founded some 1400 years ago, is on of the most ancient Buddhist temples in Hanoi. It houses, besides the usual pantheon of the Buddhas and the Mother goddesses, a collection of impressive stupas ( tombs), steles dating as far back as 1679, one of the two rare statues of the reclining Buddha found in North Vietnam and a Buddhi tree which had its origin in India. Separated from the bustle of Thanh Nien Road by a narrow causeway, the pagoda is an oasis of peace and solemnity. Located on the West Lake and next to Truc Bach Lake, the pagoda is considered a magnificent symbol of Buddhism in Vietnam and is one of the most visited sites in the capital.
